Accessibility
Although the Park is nearly 10 900 sq kms of untamed and untouched wilderness, your family will experience all there is to offer within easy access from the town site along good paved roads and maintained trails. The best way and often the easiest is to walk up the Canadian Rockies to enjoy the spectacular views. There are a variety of trails close to town that will put you and the kids atop of a mountain. Please ask at the front desk about easy to moderate walking areas and hiking trails.
Wildlife
Wildlife viewing opportunities abound in the Canadian Rockies so we recommend you give them lots of room and the animals will do the same. A camera with good zoom qualities is ideal to keep everyone at a safe distance. Also, check that your food is secured in your packs and be sure that you don’t leave any garbage behind.
Activities
The Mount Robson Inn offers year round activity planning services and hotel accommodation special packages such as white water rafting, horseback riding, gondola rides, helicopter tours canyon walks, ice walks, Marmot Basin ski packages, Miette Natural Hot Springs, canoeing, fishing, hiking, skating, skate park, aquatic centre and mountain biking.
Dining
The onsite restaurant serves free breakfast for all hotel guests and we are happy to make dining recommendations for lunch, dinner or snacks.
What to Pack
The Rocky Mountain climate in the Canadian Rockies of Alberta, Canada can be quite unpredictable at times. Year round it is advisable to pack:
- good footwear boots or shoes with good support and grip when hiking or walking
- layered clothing – long sleeve shirts, short sleeve, fleece jacket, waterproof jacket
- heavy gloves and hat in winter, light gloves and hat in summer
- camera, refillable water bottle and back pack
- bathing suit to enjoy the hotels hot tubs
- Canadian Rockies guidebooks are recommended and available at most stores in town
